STARTUP/SHUTDOWN SOUNDS AND ANIMATION
This post will enable you to change your Start-Up & Shut-Down sounds and graphics.
When you're using P2Kman always remember to remove your TransFlash memory card from the phone because P2Kman doesnt work properly with it in.
Changing Start-up & Power-Down Sounds:
This can be done with just 2 seem edits
1.Connect your e398 to the PC n fire up P2Kman.
2.Once you get the "Connected" msg in the P2K status window, Download the SEEM 004a_0001
Then just do the following Seem edits taken from xlr8's website :
SEEM 004a_0001
**all offsets are HEX**
**no bit manipulation here, just change the actual value in the offset**
offset 22 (01 for custom startup sound stored in /a/mobile/audio/Start~up.mp3, 00 for no custom startup sound)
offset 24 (01 for custom shutdown sound stored in /a/mobile/audio/Power~down.mp3, 00 for no custom shutdown sound)
3. Now make your own sound and upload it into "/a/mobile/audio/" folder but
Remember to name the new sounds you want exactly as it is written , viz "Start~up.mp3" & "Power~down.mp3"
And that's all there is to it, however just keep in mind that since the start-up n power down animations are short it would be wise to stick to the same time intervals to have a nice synchronized effect. The original start-up animation is 1 second but i'm using a 7 second sound and it fits perfectly with the stock start-up animation.
Changing the Start-up & Power-Down Animations:
First you need to turn off the Motorola OEM Startup/Shutdown animation.
1.The moto startup is in 0032_0001.seem at offset 1D, bit #3. (1 on, 0 off)
2.The moto shutdown is in 0032_0001.seem at offset 31, bit #0. (1 on, 0 off)
Next you need to turn on the Custom Startup/Shutdown animation.
3.The custom startup is in 004a_0001.seem at offset 23. Set this offset to "01" to turn it on.
4.The custom shutdown is in 0032_0001.seem at offset 46, bit #0. (1 on, 0 off)
5.When custom startup and shutdown is activated, your phone looks in seems 0206_0001, 0207_0001, 0208_0001, and 0209_0001 for the name of the animated gif to display. 0206 and 0208 are for startup and 0207 and 0209 are for shutdown. These will usually already have the right filenames in them.
But for an example we'll change the shut-down animation,n lets say when i go to change my custom shut down animation i download my 0207 Seem and find this :

Which is different from my 0209 Seem :

So what this means is, even if you do the Seem edits you wont see your custom animation so all we have to do is just edit the 0207 Seem to say "custgoodbye.gif" as shown below :

Once both of them say "custgoodbye.gif" upload all the edited seems ( 0207, 0209 & 0032) back to your phone.
6.So although you dont really need to check the 0207 & 0209 Seems If you have problems, take a look at them , but most likely the files already have "/a/custwakeup.gif" and "/a/custgoodbye.gif" written in them.
7.Now that the seems are in order, Make some animated GIFs that are 176x220 pixels and upload them to your phone to the "/a" folder with the appropriate filenames.

8.Restart your phone through P2Kman and then power cycle (Switch off & then switch on) your phone to see your new Start-Up And/or Shut-Down Animations in action 
I would recommend that the files aren't too big or too lengthy in animation.
In case you want to go back to the original animations remember to change
For the Shut-Down Animation ->both the seem edits in the 0032 Seem
&
For the Start-Up Animation ->both the seem edits in the 004a & 0032 Seems
to get back the original animations.
Addendum:
For those of you who would like to do without the start-up /shut down Animations and sounds it's even more simple just turn off each feature by following the seem edits
For Start-up/Shut-Down sounds:
SEEM 004a_0001
offset 22 (01 for custom startup sound stored in /a/mobile/audio/Start~up.mp3, 00 for no custom startup sound)
offset 24 (01 for custom shutdown sound stored in /a/mobile/audio/Power~down.mp3, 00 for no custom shutdown sound)
Now, i havnt done this myself so if the seem edit doesnt work ,then, you can just upload a silent mp3 with the appropriate name for when you dont want the sound ,i.e. a silent Start~up.mp3 or a silent Power~down.mp3. For this, you will have to activate Custom sounds and only then will the silent Start~up.mp3 or a silent Power~down.mp3 be selected.
For Start-up/Shut-Down animations:
This is easy too !
All you have to do is switch off the OEM animations and stop there , dont activate the Custom animations.
1.The moto startup is in 0032_0001.seem at offset 1D, bit #3. turn it off by setting the bit 3 to "0"
2.The moto shutdown is in 0032_0001.seem at offset 31, bit #0. turn it off by setting the bit 0 to "0"
